Our Mission:
Through our efforts we will protect, promote, and defend the tribal sovereign government rights of federally recognized tribes, against arbitrary and capricious interference by local, state, and federal agencies.
Goal:
Reinforce guiding principles and respect for tribal sovereignty and self-determination, which includes the right of Indigenous tribes to make important decisions about their own best interests, without intrusion by those who would infringe and interfere upon those rights.
Background:
Though there have been many efforts over the last 20 years to improve the federal trust responsibilities of the United States with Tribal Nations, there remains significant failures of federal agencies which violate tribal sovereignty in the execution of their government-to-government relationships. Recent interferences to tribal sovereignty by federal agencies have been particularly egregious with respect to tribal leadership and self-determination by tribal nations.
